Cornstarch Alfajores - Cremac

👩‍🍳  Cornstarch Alfajores

An Argentine classic 🇦🇷 Today we bring you an easy and delicious homemade recipe, perfect with a good mate tea! 🧉

  • 150 g of cornstarch.
  • 100 gr. of flour 0000
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 100 g of butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • Our confectionery dulce de leche to taste
  • Grated coconut to taste

1. Start by putting the butter, at room temperature, in a bowl together with the sugar and vanilla essence. Mix until it is all combined.

2. Add the egg yolks and beat again.

3. Add the cornstarch, flour and baking powder. If you can sieve these ingredients, all the better.

4. We combine everything with our hands until we can move it to the counter to end up with a homogeneous dough.

5. Let the dough rest right there for about 15 minutes.

6. After this time we begin to stretch the dough. First with your hands and then with the rolling pin until it is quite flat.

7. With a round cutter we assemble our tops and bottoms. As we make them, we place them on a plate.

8. While the oven is preheating at medium temperature, let the tops and bottoms rest in the fridge for a few minutes.

9. After this time, we put them in the oven for about 10 minutes.

10. When they are golden brown, take them out of the oven. Once they are cool, we assemble our alfajorcitos with a lot of dulce de leche and dip them in grated coconut.
